San Antonio-based Injury Sciences says that Western United Insurance Company has licensed its new fraud-detection system, "WrExpert". WrExpert is a PC-based, system that evaluates specific auto accidents and provides users with the ability to detect and contain fraudulent accident and injury claims.

WrExpert evaluates the severity of auto accidents by analyzing the physical damage to the vehicles involved. The product is designed to subsequently assess the potential for a variety of soft tissue injuries for accidents identified as "minor collisions." As a result, claims can be more accurately and consistently evaluated and fraudulent claims can be more readily flagged and proactively managed, the software firm says.

The product features an illustrated injury-causation reference library, which provides information on anatomy, injury causes and treatments for specific injuries. It is a rules and knowledge-based PC (stand-alone or server-based) program that operates in Windows 95, 98 or NT platforms.

Injury Sciences LLC is a technology venture of Biodynamic Research Corporation, a research and forensic consulting firm that specializes in analyzing how injuries are caused.

"WrExpert fills a truly unique need in the industry, and it has demonstrated an ability to help us in our fight against fraud," said Jim Schallert, president and CEO of Western United,

"We are thrilled to have Western United as an early adopter of our technology," said Scott Palmer, president and CEO of Injury Sciences. "Signing a new client that is considered a technology leader in the industry makes this a significant milestone for Injury Sciences and WrExpert."

Western United Insurance Company is a Newport Beach, California-based private passenger auto insurance company specializing in non-standard risks.
