WebDefender

AXENT Technologies, Inc.'s WebDefender is a turnkey access control and authorization solution that provides centralized, secure access and single sign-on to Web-based information. Fully integrated with the Microsoft Windows NT domain, it enables Webmasters and IT managers to reuse their existing user group policies and quickly deploy Web access control without extensive programming or creating and maintaining a separate user database.

With WebDefender, users are only required to log-in once using their existing NT name and password or using AXENT's optional, integrated Defender token-based authentication. As users make subsequent requests for additional Web-based information, WebDefender provides transparent single sign-on to any authorized corporate Web server.

WebDefender is based on "ticketing" technology, which uses a centralized server to administer encrypted tickets carrying users' credentials and access information. The ticketing server examines user authentication and authorization credentials and checks that information against the information stored in their Windows NT domain. The ticketing server will then place a ticket on the User's Web browser, which allows the content to be accessed.
