BSS assisted in the establishment of a Rule based Intelligent Java Mapping engine. This mapping Engine transforms the data requests for a HP Based insurance application to an AS/400 based Insurance application.
The Client:

Our client is a leading U.S. based international insurance organization and one of the largest underwriters of commercial and industrial coverage in the United States.

The Business Problem:

The main challenge for our client was to develop, "an n-tier, reusable, component-based architecture" for insurance applications. These architectures must accomplish workflow of different lines of business. This architecture should provide solutions that can be end-user driven to suit their specific business needs.

By implementing these re-usable business components across different member companies, our client can establish an operational infrastructure across multiple clients. These clients can operate with variety of system platforms including IBM Mainframes (S/390, ES9000, IBM3090), IBM Midrange (AS/400, etc.), HP Mainframes, SUN / Solaris, numerous NT and UNIX platforms. These clients operate in Web based environments and/or Client/Server based environments.

This requirement necessitated the need for Java Based Server/Client component architectures that operate on Object/relational databases.

The Customer invited BSS to lead and establish these architectures.

The Solution:

Having in-depth of experience across a variety of platforms, BSS proposed different architectural solutions to meet the customer needs.

BSS assisted in the establishment of a Rule based Intelligent Java Mapping engine. This mapping Engine transforms the data requests for a HP Based insurance application to an AS/400 based Insurance application.

This mapping engine has capabilities to transform not only syntactical data, but also context-based business functions. The primary objective of this engine is to convert "HTML client calls to the HP system" to "AS/400 program calls with parameters". BSS used Server side Java for development.

BSS was also invited to establish a "Universal Rating Engine". This Universal Rating Engine must incorporate the Rating Infrastructure across multiple insurance clients and their business rules.
