Watson Named President of Argonaut

The board of directors of Argonaut Group named announced Mark Watson, III president of Argonaut Insurance Company, its principal subsidiary.

Watson joined the board in June 1999. He joined the management team in October as vice president of Argonaut Group and executive vice president of Argonaut Insurance Company.

Since joining the company, Watson has had responsibility for the development of new business opportunities for the company, such as the recently announced partnership with Esurance and General Reinsurance Corporation to provide personal auto insurance directly to consumers through the Internet.

Argonaut Insurance Company is a national specialty carrier with assets exceeding $1.6 billion. The Company is primarily engaged in selling, underwriting, and servicing workers compensation and other lines of property-casualty insurance.
