Underwriters' Laboratories Opens Representative Office in Shanghai

At the request of clients who do business within and outside China, Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has expanded its customer service in China with the opening of a Representative Office in Shanghai. Shanghai is the largest city in China and ideally located for the convenience of manufacturers in the region. The opening of the Shanghai Representative Office marks the second such office in China. UL currently has another Representative Office location in Guangzhou, China.

The new Representative Office opened April 17, with specially assigned staff who will help Chinese clients obtain UL's product safety certification services and Marks for the United States, Canada and worldwide. Dorothy Yuan, manager of the Representative Office will not only supervise office operations, but will provide education and information to Chinese clients who need product safety certification services from UL.

"The opening of this Representative Office will strengthen UL's ability to provide Chinese clients, agents and customers local access to one-stop international safety certifications and adjunct services," says Bob Levine, UL's senior vice president-field operations. "The staff's goal at the office is to promote all UL services, simplify communication between UL and clients in China and expedite service. The office is also a further reinforcement of our commitment to provide U.S. clients with access to international markets.
