UMAX Launches Its Latest Scanner In Astra Family Of Products
UMAX Technologies, Inc., a supplier of imaging and computer technologies, has introduced the Astra 2400S, the latest addition to its Astra product line of scanners. The Astra 2400S features a legal-size scanning bed, 36-bit color quality, 600x2400-dpi resolution and a comprehensive business imaging software bundle. The optional automatic document feeder and transparency adapter give the Astra 2400S additional document management and creation capabilities including fax, email, and copying, along with OCR, graphic design and image editing.
The scanner features 36-bit color quality with 48-bit color preprocessing to offer over 68 billion colors and 4,096 shades of gray. It is capable of extending its hardware resolution from 600 x 2400 dpi to a maximum interpolated resolution of 9600 dpi through UMAX Ultra View Technology. The Astra 2400S is both PC and Macintosh-compatible, offering a SCSI-2 interface for blazing fast scans and a PCI SCSI card for Windows 98 plug-and-play compatibility. The scanning bed is 8.5"x14", allowing users to scan small and large images and documents including 35mm slides and legal-size documents.
The latest of UMAX's Astra products comes with a comprehensive software bundle headlined by Adobe Systems, Inc. and includes Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Acrobat; and Adobe PageMill; Newsoft's Presto! PageManager 98 for Windows; Caere Omnipage LE OCR for Macintosh; and PhotoDeluxe Business Edition for Windows, a new product from Adobe that offers step-by-step support for creating business documents which include images.
