Tiller Named to Lead ERC Subsidiaries
John Tiller, a longtime life insurance executive, consultant and author, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer for GE Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC), Insurance Company Segment Life Reinsurance Corporation and Employers Reassurance Corporation (ERAC). In his new position, he will lead the firm's life and health reinsurance business in North America.
Tiller, a 30-year veteran in the insurance industry, joined ERC Life/ERAC in November 1998 as executive vice president in charge of capital management and business development. Prior to ERC, Tiller served as principal-in-charge of the U.S. insurance consulting practice for KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP in New York. He has also held senior executive positions with Resource Deployment Inc. (a subsidiary of Primerica), with Tillinghast (a Towers Perrin company) and with Transamerica. He began his career as a life and health insurance agent with Pacific Mutual Life in Los Angeles.
Tiller co-authored Life, Health and Annuity Reinsurance, which is in its second printing and is used widely by actuaries, executives, insurance companies, and reinsurers as the most comprehensive guide to the intricacies of the life and annuity reinsurance business.
Tiller is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He holds a bachelor's degree from Harvey Mudd College. He has been active in an array of industry activities and is a frequent speaker on insurance and reinsurance topics.
