Fiserv SIS announces four new modules that will allow you to expand your services by leveraging the power of the Internet for e-commerce.
Fiserv SIS announces four new modules that will allow you to expand your services by leveraging the power of the Internet for e-commerce.

Tech21 will support real-time interactive point-of-service transactions using XML and a standard Application Programming Interface (API) into The Specialty System.

tPolicy – API's for policy (ALPS) transactions

tBilling – API's for billing (IBS) transactions (bundled with tPolicy)

  • tPolicy and tBilling will conform to ACORD-XML protocols. The intent is to allow your agents (or your insureds) to quote, enter new business, enter endorsements, process payments, and perform inquiries. Access to these features is controlled by the front-end system you use and Specialty System security.
  • You select the point-of-service system that best meets your business and technical requirements and is consistent with your branding. Some clients are developing browser-based front-ends. These can be easily integrated to the Specialty System using tPolicy and tBilling. In addition, there is a growth of vendors who have developed sophisticated front-ends tied to the ACORD-XML protocol. Fiserv SIS has established relationships with several. The result is that you have a variety of alternatives from which to select.

tClaims – API's for claims (CMS) transactions

  • Because the ACORD-XML protocols for claims are still under industry discussion, Fiserv SIS will initially release tClaims using a proprietary protocol. We plan to move to the ACORD-XML standard when it is released. The intent is to allow your agent (or consumer) to enter First Report of Loss and track a claim. You may also want to provide access to outside investigators, attorneys, or others who are working claims.

eClaims – User interface into tClaims

  • Fiserv SIS is developing a point-of-service (front-end) system for CMS. eClaims' features and functions are based on input from our clients, marketing analysis, and prioritization.

Benefits to You:

  • Supports real-time interactive processing at the point of service.
  • Supports your e-commerce initiatives.
  • Leverages your investment in The Specialty System.
  • Policy point-of-service system is tailored to your business and branding needs;
  • Policy is where expressing your identity is most important.
  • Claims point-of-service system is provided and maintained by Fiserv SIS.
  • Extends the functionality in The Specialty System to the point-of-service.
  • Front-end (point-of-service) system can be Windows-GUI or web browser
  • Uses portable technologies and protocols (e.g., XML)
  • Designed to support a rapidly changing business and technical environment.

Although conceptually simple, the Tech21 project is very complex. Programs that users never see will package (XML), translate (Translator), route, and interactively process transactions.

  • If your point-of-service system uses existing Specialty System code tables, minimal translation is needed. Otherwise a sophisticated translator is required to determine the appropriate Specialty System transaction(s) to invoke.
  • Communication through each step from the desktop through the LAN or Internet to the AS/400 and back is designed for reliability, throughput, and security.
  • A special transaction data-space on the AS/400 facilitates real-time, interactive processing without degrading performance.
  • Throughout the process capability for error identification, reporting, and correction is available.
