Swiss Re America Launches Strategic Financial Group

Swiss Reinsurance America has launched a new Strategic Financial Solutions group to, as the company says, "help primary insurance carriers take full advantage of their financial resources and use their capital more efficiently."

This new unit will work with clients to develop strategic, financial restructuring plans to achieve such objectives as a merger, acquisition or management buy-out.

Strategic Financial Solutions says it has developed an innovative methodology, which allows it to take a detailed look at the capital structure of each property/casualty company in the US. John Swigart, a director in the new group, noted that, "Swiss Re America is now able to offer unique approaches that maximize gains from capital restructuring."

Strategic Financial Solutions is led by James Slattery, senior vice president, Strategy, Planning and Business Ventures at Swiss Re America. Slattery commented that "with this new methodology, we can help our clients identify and pursue growth and enhancement opportunities that they may not have otherwise captured."

"We view this group as a substantial growth platform for both our clients an ourselves," said Heidi Hutter, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Swiss Re America.
