Royal & SunAlliance Picks Investment Chief From Gen Re
Ernest C. Frohboese has been named chief investment officer of Royal & SunAlliance USA, the company announced today. His appointment was effective in early January.
Frohboese joins Royal & SunAlliance from General Reinsurance Co. (Gen Re) in Stamford, Conn., where he was a senior vice president and chief investment officer for eight years. At Gen Re, Frohboese was responsible for managing nearly $18 billion in assets. Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. recently acquired Gen Re, and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman & CEO Warren Buffett will manage the investment function for the combined entity.
In addition to his position at Gen Re, Frohboese has more than 30 years of investment management experience, including positions at Capitoline Investment Services, Inc. (owned by Richmond-based Crestar Bank), American Airlines and IDS Advisory Corp. He currently serves on several advisory committees to the New York Stock Exchange.
Frohboese, 58, graduated from Princeton University in 1962 with a degree in economics, and from the Harvard Business School in 1964 with an MBA.
