Risk Capital Re Acquires Interest in Montgomery & Collins, Inc.

Risk Capital Reinsurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Risk Capital Holdings, Inc. has acquired a minority ownership interest in Montgomery & Collins, Inc., a Boston-based wholesale brokerage firm. Risk Capital Re's investment was made concurrently with investments by Marsh & McLennan Risk Capital Holdings, Ltd. and Rufus Williams, who became Chairman of the Board of M&C upon the completion of the transaction. Mr. Williams is a former partner and director of Johnson & Higgins and also served as chief executive officer of Henry Ward Johnson & Company, J&H's E&S brokerage operation. Sanford Elsass continues as M&C's Chief Executive Officer.

M&C is a national surplus lines and wholesale brokerage firm which operates through branches in 11 cities, in addition to its headquarters in Boston. M&C's customers are primarily local or regional agents and brokers, and its principal classes of business include commercial general liability, workers' compensation, professional liability, property and excess liability.
