RIMS Schedules Debate on Industry Consolidation
In response to recent industry events, attendees at the 1998 RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition will have an opportunity to participate first-hand in a debate over the effects of insurance industry consolidation on risk management, particularly the potential for financially motivated decisions on the part of the resulting "megabrokers" and "megacarriers." This special event, which will replace the previously scheduled luncheon speaker, will take place on Tuesday, April 28 in San Diego.
Executives from five companies that have been actively engaged in (or specifically avoided) merger activities will join a well-known risk manager in answering questions and exploring the implications, financial and other, of industry consolidations.
Panel Participants will include: Jack Sinnott, Vice Chairman of J. and H. Marsh and McLennan; Patrick Gallagher, President and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher; Edward G. Troy, Executive Vice President of Liberty Mutual Group; Jay Fishman, Vice Chairman of Traveler's Property and Casualty Corp and President and CEO of Commercial Lines; and Susan R. Meltzer, Assistant Vice President, Insurance and Risk Management for Sun Life Assurance of Canada.
Questions will be solicited prior to the conference via a fax-back form that can be obtained either on the RIMS Web site (http://www.rims.org) under the What's New section or by calling RIMS at (212) 286-9292, ext. 258.
