Researchers Announce Individual, Corporate Awards

Each year the outgoing Society of Insurance Research president selects an individual member and a corporation for special recognition based on their respective efforts on behalf of the Society.

Brad Wilson, of Nationwide Global Holdings, selected the National Association of Independent Insurers' Diana Lee as recipient of the President's Individual Award. Lee, who has been a member of Society since 1991, has served as membership vice president, education vice president and a director on SIR's Board. She also arranged and presented at numerous S.I.R. workshops and other events and has personally recruited and sponsored more new members than any other active member over the past several years.

The President's Corporate Award was presented to Richard Nahmias on behalf of his company, Nahmias & Company. A member of S.I.R. since 1992, Rich has been a frequent speaker/moderator at various S.I.R. events. During 1999, Rich organized and participated in a workshop on Competitive Intelligence during the Spring Workshop Series in Quebec City. In addition, he volunteered to assume the responsibility of selecting and coordinating the development of four half-day workshops preceding the 1999 Annual Conference.

Awards were also presented to the following outgoing officers and directors in appreciation for their past contributions to S.I.R.:

• Vice president, 1999 Workshops: Peter Delucchi, CPCU, ARP, ARe (California State Auto Association)
• Vice president, 1999 Annual Conference: Valerie Deaton (Mathew Greenwald & Associates)
• Director, 1997 – 1999: Maureen Strazdon, CLU (American International Group)
