The Preferred Hospitality Program was started in December of 1998 to assist a broker in rounding out an offering to a state restaurant association. The broker was in need of a stand-alone workers' compensation program for restaurant risks, and Venture Programs pulled together industry specialists in loss control and claim services, and developed the Preferred Hospitality Program. The target class, in addition to restaurants, includes hotels, resorts, casinos, and other hospitality-related risks. This workers' compensation program is available in all states.

In May, 2000, the program was broadened and now offers a comprehensive package policy for the restaurant industry. The product is filed in seven (7) Western states and is in the process of being filed nationally.
