During its first year of operation, the Political Risk group rapidly established itself as a leading underwriter in the global political risk insurance market and has become a global alternative to private insurers. Zurich U.S. Political Risk quickly gained acceptance among top global customers by offering products and services and by coinsuring on major projects and multi-country risk with public agencies. Political Risk wrote policies covering risks in 55 developing countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe. The group's success is largely attributed to its staff of experienced professionals, flexible and creative underwriting solutions, and responsive service to customers.
The Political Risk group has recently announced a doubling of its capacity to $100 million per risk and an extension of the maximum term of coverage to fifteen years. These increases respond to the growing demand for Zurich's global political risk coverage from major international infrastructure developers and financial institutions involved in various sectors.
