The Business Problem:

After experiencing unprecedented growth, our client needed to replace its existing Microsoft Access policy tracking system with a seamless workflow and document management solution that could streamline the reservation, rating, quotation, binding, policy generation, and administration processes. The result of this effort was the Environmental Policy Administration System.

The Solution:

Prior to Business Software Solutions' involvement, this project was going off track, having missed key milestones and lacking in content and quality in several key areas. BSS came on board in the middle of the project life cycle, assumed a project management role, and assessed the current situation. A gap analysis identified where the application developed to date was falling short. By supplementing or replacing the existing staff with senior Business Software Solutions consultants and instituting a systems development life cycle methodology for the project, which emphasized requirements determination and structured testing techniques, these problems were overcome.

The project utilizes Visual Basic 6, SQL Server 7, and Crystal Reports 7 in a Windows NT client/server environment. The completed Environmental Policy Administration System interfaces with the corporate reservation and statistical systems and can generate rates, indications, quotes, binders, policies, and numerous correspondence templates based on information stored in the database. It is capable of handling maintenance functions such as audits, renewals, non-renewals, cancellations, rewrites, and endorsements.
