Poe & Brown, Inc. Announces Another Set of Multiple Acquisitions

Poe & Brown, Inc. has closed on several further acquisitions, following the acquisitions of Thim Insurance Agency, Inc. and Heine-Miles Insurance, Inc., reported by PropertyandCasualty.com last week. The company is also in the process of finalizing the merger of a large mid-Western agency.

In Las Vegas, NV, Harris Insurance Services, Inc., became a part of Poe & Brown effective April 1, 1998. The company will continue to operate as Harris Insurance Services in their current location.

John F. Phillips Insurance, Inc., of Prescott, AZ, also joined Poe & Brown's expanding Southwestern U.S. operations on April 1, 1998. "John F. Phillips is being combined into Poe & Brown's existing Prescott, Arizona operation, managed by Dennis Colgan," said Ken Kirk, President of Poe & Brown of Arizona.

J. Hyatt Brown, Chairman, President and CEO of Poe & Brown, also advised that the Company has entered into discussions to acquire Daniel James Insurance Agency, Inc. Daniel James has offices in Toledo, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. While a definitive agreement has not been signed, it is anticipated that final negotiations will conclude during the month of April.
