NS-7000 and NS-8000 Servers
Gateway, the personal computer direct marketer, has added the Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server operating system as a bundled option on its NS-7000 and NS-8000 Servers. The operating system makes it easier for customers to network personal computers and increase business productivity.
Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0 is an operating system that provides growing businesses with the tools to make sharing information and connecting with their business partners and customers easier. Features include file, print, and application services, essential communication services and a safe and secure connection to the Internet. Small Business Server is designed for businesses with 25 or less PCs.
NS-7000 and NS-8000 servers support a wide variety of server environments. They also reduce obsolescence with an upgrade path to dual processing in a mid- or full-size tower chassis. The NS-7000, an entry-level server that safeguards the network, provides support for up to two Intel PentiumII and PentiumPro Processors. The NS-7000 has an integrated Fast Wide Ultra SCSI controller providing easy attachment of high-performance SCSI Devices. Standard features include a 10/100 Ethernet controller. - 64MB of EDO ECC DIMM memory, expandable to 512MB - Integrated 2MB PCI graphics
- 13/32X CD-ROM
- Six expansion slots: three PCI, two EISA and one shared PCI/EISA - Seven storage bays

- InforManager(TM) server management system
The mid-range NS-8000, a scalable server for mid-size enterprises and departmental applications, provides support for up to two Intel Pentium II or Pentium Pro processors. The NS-8000 includes an integrated Fast Wide Ultra SCSI controller for improved I/O performance. The NS-8000 also includes two redundant load-sharing 365-Watt power supplies standard and a 10/100 Ethernet controller. Other features include:

- 128MB of EDO ECC DIMM memory, expandable to 512MB - 13/32X CD-ROM
- Seven expansion slots: four PCI, two shared PCI/EISA, and one EISA
