Ontario, CA-based NewLink Group Inc., a management consulting firm, says it has developed a methodical approach to evaluate the architecture, information, and functionality of system applications implemented in insurance companies or being offered by technology vendors. The methodology uses the Vista Insurance Enterprise knowledge base as a benchmark to assess the quality of the applications.

The firm's Business System Benchmarking Methodology allows insurance organizations and software vendors to identify key strategic systems areas that can be improved to better service their customers and to compete with an edge on the market. The approach provides a blueprint to guide the future evolution of their application architecture.

NewLink says the methodology has been successfully deployed in a number of application assessment engagements.

Vista is a knowledge framework of functional, information and process definitions for planning and design of insurance organizations, processes, and technology covering the full breadth of business managed in an insurance enterprise. It is a reference model used in business process, management information, data warehouse and information technology planning, design, development, implementation, and on-going management.

The models have been successfully applied in several projects in the Life, Health, Wealth, and Property & Casualty industries.
