New Execs Named in Kemper Executive Protection Unit

Financial Insurance Solutions, Kemper's division specializing in executive protection insurance for commercial and financial institutions, will be establishing a presence in the Northeast, Midwest and West. John Holt has been named vice president in charge of the Northeast-underwriting region, while Debra Schaffel will be vice president of the Central underwriting region and Martin Maslanka will serve as vice president of the Western underwriting region.

Holt will underwrite commercial and financial customers in the Northeast region with a concentration on growth and emerging industries like high technology, telecommunications and biotechnology. He will manage an underwriting territory that includes New York State (excluding New York City and Long Island) and New England and be located at 4 Batterymarch Park in Braintree, MA.

Schaffel will underwrite commercial and financial customers in the Central region, managing a territory that includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. She will be located at 500 West Madison Street in Chicago, IL.

As underwriting manager for the Western region, Maslanka will underwrite commercial and financial customers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Holt was vice president and product manager for representations and warranties liability insurance at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.

Schaffel was most recently a vice president for the American International Group (National Union), where she oversaw D&O, crime, fiduciary and EPL product lines for middle market clients.

Maslanka comes to Kemper after a 16-year career at The Chubb Corporation, where he was most recently an assistant vice president and California regional manager for the Executive Protection Department.
