Mutual of Enumclaw Signs New Agreement
Prelude Systems Inc. announced today that Mutual of Enumclaw has signed an agreement expanding the insurance company's use of CheckWorks software to include the Claims division. Prelude Systems designed CheckWorks to help companies better manage and issue payments. Mutual of Enumclaw, with independent agents in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, will now process and track insurance claims utilizing the software. It has been using CheckWorks since April of 1998 in the Account Billing departments, issuing 200 to 300 refund or expense checks per day. Mutual of Enumclaw estimates that the Claims division will issue an additional 200 to 400 checks daily under a separate application.
CheckWorks will allow Mutual of Enumclaw to centralize control and distribute claims processing among its many agencies. Headquartered in Enumclaw, WA, the insurance company's Claims division is spread out in 16 different offices across three states. CheckWorks will integrate information from all sources to produce a comprehensive database that can be accessed at any time and from any location by Mutual of Enumclaw staff for queries, reporting, printing file copies, or manual input of payment information. For outside issue, or claims paid by agents in the field with pre-printed stock, CheckWorks will track payments through bank reconciliation. For all other claims, CheckWorks will process payments, print out checks utilizing MICR (magnetic ink character recognition) technology on blank safety stock, automate bank reconciliation and track all payments, then export updated information back to Mutual of Enumclaw's central database.
The insurance company's original application of CheckWorks automated its Account Billing system. The software grafted onto Mutual of Enumclaw's system using existing terminology, enabling the import of historical payment data, and the export of the information to the general ledger system. It also provides a write-off function, tracking and accounting for outstanding checks.
