MSO Introduces Landlord's BOP Program in Maryland

MSO, Inc. (The Mutual Service Office, Inc.) says it has received approval for a business owners program for landlords in Maryland, effective February 1, 2000. The program was previously approved in Pennsylvania, and is also being filed in New Jersey, Delaware and Indiana.

The new program is based on the MSO BOP, but it has been modified to apply specifically to tenant-occupied properties are not eligible for the standard MSO program. Building coverage is on a "named perils" basis, rather than "all risk". Also, liability coverage is premises type, instead of comprehensive.

The Landlord's BOP program uses its own coverage form and separate declarations supplement. MSO is developing another version of the Landlord's BOP that will offer expanded perils coverage on buildings. It will be filed in all states.

MSO offers property and casualty programs for all lines except Workers' Compensation. It also offers training programs on a wide range of insurance-related topics, including coverage explanations, premium computation procedures, schedule rating, fire safety, and sprinkler system grading. MSO will provide speakers for agents' meetings or other organizations.

The rating/service organization says it will work with any vendor to develop and test software programs. MSO also offers full statistical reporting services. Its manuals and forms are available on CD-ROM. Company-specific forms are also included on each company's version of the CD-ROM.

MSO is a property and casualty rating/service organization, providing custom product development, rating, and statistical services to the insurance industry for over fifty years. MSO programs are available to companies writing in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Indiana and Virginia.
