Mellon Names Managing Director of Insurance Distribution Franchise

Mellon Financial Corporation has named Kenneth Schweiger has been named senior vice president and managing director of insurance distribution. Schweiger will work directly with insurance providers and key business managers across the company to speed revenue growth from Mellon's insurance distribution franchise. Mellon, in partnership with insurance carriers, provides home, health, life, auto and business insurance products to both consumers and businesses.

Schweiger will oversee all aspects and components of Mellon's current insurance distribution activities, including life, annuities, credit life and disability, property and casualty, and wealth transfer.

``Ken brings to Mellon some 30 years experience in insurance product development and distribution,'' said Dan Tuccillo, senior vice president and head of Consumer Financial Services. ``His expertise in new business development and sales growth will be instrumental in creating a comprehensive insurance strategy to serve customers' asset accumulation and protection needs and meet revenue objectives.''

Before joining Mellon, Schweiger served as vice president of bank distribution for New England Annuities; vice president of key accounts and new business development for Keyport Life Insurance Company, both located in Boston; and vice president of the Retail Insurance Division for First Bank, currently U.S. Bank, Minneapolis. In addition, he worked for Prudential and ITT Life.
