The launch of Lotus' Pager Gateway Release 2.02 with Wireless Domino Access extends the reach of Lotus Notes and Domino to millions of users of pagers and voice/data cellular phones.

The Lotus Pager Gateway Release 2.02 is a server-based solution that allows Notes users to send e-mail messages directly to one- and two-way pagers. New to Release 2.02 is Wireless Domino Access, a standalone solution included in the Pager Gateway package that enables Notes users to access their Domino server-based Notes Mail, Calendar and Directory directly from their voice/data cellular phones over wireless IP network services.

With the Pager Gateway Release 2.02, individual users can manage how, when and where they receive messages. Users can create agents easily to send messages to pagers when Notes databases are updated or e-mail messages are received. For example, a potential customer can fill in a form on a company's Web site requesting more information on a product or service. Upon submission of the form, the Pager Gateway can send a message automatically to the appropriate salesperson's pager for immediate response. In addition, Pager Gateway creates a Domino-based Web site that allows external, non-Notes users to send messages to pager users from Web browsers. System administrators can easily configure the Pager Gateway to work with multiple local, regional or national paging services.
