Lloyd's Appoints Winifred Baker President of North American Division

Lloyd's of London announced today that it has appointed Winifred A. Baker president of the world's leading insurance market's North American division. In her new position, Baker will oversee marketing communications, distribution and regulatory issues in the U.S. market.

"Wendy's depth of experience and industry background brings great value to Lloyd's," said Julian James, managing director of Lloyd's in North America. "She has played an integral role in expanding our presence and building relationships for Lloyd's in the U.S.—our most important overseas market."

Baker brings more than 20 years of experience to Lloyd's. Prior to joining Lloyd's America Inc. in 1998 as senior vice president and director of distribution, Baker had her own consulting firm. She served as an advisor to numerous insurance and reinsurance clients in the areas of capital markets initiatives, marketing, treaty and facultative reinsurance purchases, Y2K coverage issues, and new reinsurance products.

Baker spent 19 years at The Continental Corp., where she held numerous positions including president of Continental Reinsurance Corp. and senior vice president, in charge of marketing and business development, for the Special Operations Group.

Baker is a graduate of Wells College with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in History and Economics.
