Kemper Names New Chief Information Officer

Jack Scott has been named chief information officer for the Kemper Insurance Companies. He will join Kemper March 8, 1999 and will be nominated for election as a senior vice president at the next meeting of Kemper's board of directors.

Scott comes to Kemper from Lehman Brothers, where he has held a variety of management positions.

Since 1993, he has served as Lehman Brothers' managing director of central technology. Among his achievements in that role was the creation of Lehman's first large-scale data center. He brings to Kemper a wealth of expertise in turning large IS operations into profitable, high-performing organizations through the emphasis of staff development, shared accountability and long-term growth.

"In an ever-changing insurance marketplace, a nimble information technology operation is essential for a successful organization," said William D. Smith, Kemper president and chief operating officer. "Jack Scott has proven that he can build and direct IT operations that are quick to react to changing needs. We are delighted to have him on board."

Prior to his career with Lehman, Jack served nine years with Citibank, including two years as director of national consumer systems development. Jack also has held management positions with Bankers Trust, Arbat Systems and Marine Midland Bank.

Scott succeeds interim chief information officer Jeff Stoll, who will return to his role as senior information technology consultant with Madison Group, Jersey City, NJ. He will continue to work with Kemper on a number of IT projects.
