Island Insurance First In The Nation To Launch ''Life Stages'' Identity Management Program

Honolulu - Island Insurance Company, Ltd., Hawaii's largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier, is the first carrier in the nation to offer a comprehensive "Life Stages" Identity Management Program. Island Insurance homeowner policyholders now have free access to identity management services as a measure against the growing threat of identity theft. Island Insurance has collaborated with Identity Theft 911 , a leading provider of identity theft management, education, and resolution services.

Identity Management Service Enhancements

Island Insurance homeowner policyholders who become victims of identity theft currently have access to a fraud expert who will work one-on-one to resolve the crisis and restore the victim's identity.

"Identify Theft crimes are becoming more pervasive and there are certain phases in an individual's life such as: relocating, having a newborn, or dealing with the loss of a loved one, that place them at greater risk of becoming a victim of identity theft," said John Schapperle, President & Chief Operating Officer of Island Insurance. "Our enhanced program from Identity Theft 911 is extremely progressive and encompasses both prevention and remediation during these vulnerable life stages."

Island Insurance policyholders can utilize Identity Theft 911's proactive platform to help protect themselves before America's fastest-growing crime strikes. All homeowner policyholders and their immediate household members now have access to the following proactive services at no additional cost:

  • Child Risk Identity Assistance -- For parents and guardians of minor children at a heightened risk: Advocate-assisted proactive credit file suppression helps prevent against the misuse of a minor's personal information -- a growing crime that often goes undetected for decades. Includes on-demand access to a fraud specialist.
  • Military Identity Assistance -- For active duty military personnel, especially when stationed abroad: Advocate-assisted proactive military fraud alerts lasting 12 months are placed on the service member's credit file to reduce the risk of identity theft.   • Proactive Fraud Alerts -- For policyholders looking to prevent the fraudulent creation of new credit accounts: A fraud specialist places a fraud alert on the files maintained by the three major credit bureaus. The alert notifies the potential credit grantor to check with the policyholder before extending new credit. In addition, a proactive fraud alert will opt the policyholder out of most marketing lists.
