SoftTrac controls the operation of the scanner and the output required for each application. It also serves as the user interface for normal scanner operation. SoftTrac eliminates the need to develop custom software for the scanner operation and significantly reduces the time required to deploy a solution — so, you can successfully implement a high-speed scanning solution with minimal cost.
SoftTrac has three main functions: (1) Administration of the scanner operation; (2) Simple operator interface and (3) Performance monitoring. This translates into simple integration, easy operator use and a wealth of production statistics for monitoring equipment and operators.
SoftTrac encompasses ODBC configuration, Job Definition and Operator Security. SoftTrac is completely ODBC compliant, which means data, can be easily captured and moved to other data sources without major development efforts. Job Definition is the core of SoftTrac's strength. The job definition feature allows an Administrator to implement simple or complex scanning jobs within minutes. This includes jobs that require barcode recognition, inkjet printing, multiple image capture and enhancement, auto-batching and a host of other features. Finally, SoftTrac can be tailored to an individual operator’s actions using the security features.
Once an Administrator has defined the necessary jobs, SoftTrac makes the operation of the ImageTrac a snap. Operators simply login, pick a job from the list box and begin scanning - SoftTrac takes care of the rest. Also, the occasional stoppage due to skew detection or jam is easily taken care of with SoftTrac's automated jam wizard. All operator actions and performance results are logged into SoftTrac's database.
The most important aspect of high volume scanning is taking a regular “pulse” of the operation and ensuring that the scanner, software and operators are staying in an average performance range. SoftTrac's extensive metrics (Scanner, Job and Operator-based) are unparalleled in the industry. SoftTrac can quickly identify any anomaly that may be obstructing peak performance of the system.
