IBM Launches New Transaction Processing Software

IBM has announced that its transaction processing solution, TXSeries, is now available on Windows NT, as well as various UNIX platforms.

TXSeries enables existing transaction applications to extend to the web and provides an integrated solution for developing, deploying and managing new e-business and cross-enterprise transactional systems. TXSeries is an evolution of IBM's transaction software that includes Encina, distributed CICS for secure transaction processing; and MQSeries, DSSeries and Lotus' Domino GO Webserver.

"TXSeries gives customers the proven technology for building mission-critical e-business applications in increasingly complex and varied environments," said Alfred Z. Spector, general manager for IBM Transaction Systems.

TXSeries contains several new components for web-based transaction processing. Customers can use standard web browsers, such as Lotus InterNotes, Mosaic, Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, to function as front ends for TXSeries applications. On the "back-end," TXSeries includes the Domino GO Webserver and the following Internet Gateways: DE-Light, CICS Internet Gateway, and CICS Gateway for Java. These middleware solutions enable many choices for web-clients.
