HNC Software Promotes John Mutch To President Of Insurance Group

HNC Software Inc., developer and provider of predictive software in a client-server environment, has announced the promotion of John Mutch to president of its HNC Insurance Solutions business unit.

"John's performance and strong leadership skills has made him an obvious choice to lead our Insurance Solutions business unit," said Bob North, president and CEO of HNC Software, Inc. "In his new role, I look for John to drive our Insurance Solutions business unit to continued strong performance, expanding our market presence and market share."

Mutch, a former executive with Microsoft Corp., was promoted from the post of senior vice president of corporate marketing and business development at HNC Software Inc. He joined HNC in July 1997 as vice president of corporate marketing and was promoted in April 1998.

Mutch has been responsible for creating HNC's business focus on predictive software and launching the project to build the company's corporate brand and positioning. In addition, he was responsible for directing the corporate merger and acquisition program, HNC's business strategy and developing the corporate marketing team.

Prior to joining HNC, he was a founder of MVenture Holdings, Inc., a private equity fund that invests in start-up technology companies, and served as a general partner from June 1994 to July 1997. For seven years prior to his involvement with MVenture Holdings, Inc., he held a variety of positions with Microsoft Corporation, including director of enterprise marketing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics from Cornell University and Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
