Hanway Elected President and Chief Operating Officer of CIGNA

CIGNA Corporation has elected H. Edward Hanway as president and chief operating officer. Hanway, 47, was also elected a director, and will report to Wilson H. Taylor, who continues as chairman and CEO.

Each of CIGNA's operating divisions—HealthCare, Retirement and Investment Services, Group Insurance, International Employee Benefits and Life Insurance, Investment Management and Reinsurance—will report to Hanway. The corporate staff functions will continue to report to Taylor. The Domestic and International Property and Casualty organizations will also report to Taylor until the current sale agreement for these businesses to ACE Ltd. is completed.

Hanway has been president of CIGNA HealthCare since 1996. Prior to that he served as president of CIGNA International and before that he was responsible for CIGNA's operational planning, business control and corporate accounting. In the mid-1980s, Hanway was selected by Business Week magazine as one of the nation's most promising, then-under-40 corporate executives.

William M. Pastore, 50, will replace Hanway as president of CIGNA HealthCare. Pastore currently is responsible for CIGNA HealthCare's national service and information technology operations.
