GenSource Corporation has launched GenCOMP for Windows, the latest version of its popular workers' compensation claims administration system that features a graphical user interface (GUI) and client/server architecture.

Key Windows 95 design features include 100 percent compatibility with Microsoft's Windows 95 development parameters; screens based on user-defined options; fast-pathing that allows users to jump from one part of the system to another part; integration of familiar tools, such as MS-Word for word processing; color coding of fields to designate user-defined required, critical and warning fields; tab page indication of required, existing and changed data; a pop-up calendar using a right mouse click; screen and field level database queries; group and individual level security access; and context-sensitive help.

GenCOMP for Windows has just been released for operational beta testing and is expected to be available for general release in August 1998. Other claims administration modules are expected to be available with a Windows interface beginning in the 1st quarter of 1999. In the interim, GenCOMP for Windows can be fully integrated with GenSource's non-windows products, including GenDIS , which administers non-occupational STD/LTD disability claims; GenPAC , which administers property and casualty claims; GenMED , which administers group medical claims; and GenIRIS , which integrates all of the various modules together. GenCOMP for Windows also works with GenSource's new Webstract feature that allows claims data to be accessed from the Internet or an Intranet with appropriate security clearance.

With GenCOMP, users can automate the day-to-day claims administration function, personally manage each case, and make timely, cost savings decisions from reports produced automatically or on an ad hoc, "as needed" basis. GenCOMP for Windows runs on mainframes, minicomputers and microcomputer servers under the UNIX and Windows NT operating systems, although it requires a PC running Windows 95 as the client.

Key system features include control of reserve practices, payment calculation and verification against reserves, integration with GenSource's other lines of coverage, elimination of duplicate payments, automatic online payment history access, management of rehabilitation and back-to-work programs, access to key claims data via dial-in and Internet/Intranet via Webstract, online access to critical legal and claims information in litigated claims, tracking of subrogation information, including recoveries, free-form note entry for all interviews and activities, ad hoc management reporting on an as needed basis and assistance in producing mandated government forms, including 1099, OSHA and annual reports.
