Frank Coyne Joins Kemper To Head Specialty And Risk Management Operations

Frank Coyne, former president and chief operating officer of General Accident Insurance Company of America, has joined the Kemper Insurance Companies to oversee specialty and risk management operations. He will report to William D. Smith, Kemper's president and chief operating officer, and will be nominated for election as an executive vice president at the next meeting of Kemper's board of directors.

"Frank's experience and expertise will help us take our specialty and risk management operations to an even higher level," Smith said. "As president of General Accident, he became a demonstrated leader in the industry. He successfully oversaw its major operations and built several business units from scratch, including areas devoted to specialty programs, national accounts and affinity groups."

Coyne joined General Accident in 1985 as senior vice president and general counsel, with responsibility for the legal, human resources and administration functions. He was then elected an executive vice president when he was given the additional responsibility for all branch operations. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 1991. Before joining General Accident, he had worked in the legal departments at other insurance companies. Coyne earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Scranton in Scranton, PN, and his law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
