FDI Group Launches StarTech Software Systems, Inc. from CCN Software Purchase
The FDI Group, a Novi, MI-based insurance and healthcare service organization has purchased from CCN its software division. The purchase includes the products and client base of the former MedView/ISP Software Company. The new company is called StarTech Software Systems.
Under the former operating arrangement, what is now StarTech had developed and marketed software targeted at property and casualty claims administration. Now, StarTech Software will add an emphasis on managed care products. According to Mark Churella, president and CEO of StartEch's parent, FDI Group, "Technology is playing a lead roll in building the infrastructure around which will eventually become a true 24-hour model of integrated healthcare. StarTech Software will be a market leader in this developing industry.
"Our goal is to provide the industry with state-of-the-art products that really work," says Churella. "It may sound funny placing emphasis on something as apparently obvious as this. But in reality, as anyone who bought some software that was, in fact, Vaporware knows, providing products that 'do what they say they are going to do' really means something."
Churella's vision comes from what he describes as a painful experience he had with a software vendor some years ago. It carries through to today, he says, in StarTech Software's motto, "Solutions That Work."
StarTech Software has almost 70 existing clients across the country. It is developing new products, but plans to continue the Workers' Compensation claims management system, the Medical Fee Schedule Review system and the Case Management software system it now offers.
In addition to StarTech Software, FDI Group also owns ManageAbility, Inc., a retrospective review company; Financial Designs, a financial planning-based operation; George B. Ford Agency, a full service property and casualty insurance agency; Health Care Administrators, a general managing agent for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network of Michigan; United States Indemnity and Casualty Company, Ltd.; FDI Risk Managers; and FDI Realty Partners, LLC.
