Chubb's Excess Umbrella underwriters manage the components of the underwriting cycle in order to maintain a stable and consistent approach. Excess Umbrella Policy Features:

  • Two separate coverages are provided—excess follow form liability and umbrella liability. Chubb's policy offers protection from catastrophic liability losses in two ways—it affords continuity with a policyholder's primary liability coverages and also provides broadened coverage to close many of the gaps in a client's primary liability program.
  • Excess follow form liability coverage incorporates primary coverage provisions, creating greater coverage continuity.
  • Significant limits available
  • Financially solid capacity
  • Losses paid for by Chubb on policyholders behalf (where permitted by law) to eliminate disruption to a policyholder's cash flow.
  • Worldwide protection.
  • No self-insured retention, providing first dollar coverage on losses not covered by a primary liability program.
  • Affirmative duty to defend, rather than a right to participate in a policyholder's defense against damages.
  • Defense costs do not erode a policyholder's limits.
  • First dollar defense provided.
  • Separate aggregate limit for losses not covered by primary insurance.
  • Coverage applies directly over reduced or exhausted primary limits of insurance.
  • Automatic coverage for new entities.
  • Includes coverage for additional insureds covered in primary insurance.
  • Bodily injury includes mental anguish, mental injury, shock or humiliation.
  • Personal injury includes discrimination.

Failure to maintain primary insurance or the insolvency of the primary insurer does not invalidate the policy.

Under Chubb's Excess Umbrella coverage, there are no exclusions for the property of others in a policyholder's possession; liquor liability; non-owned watercraft; non-owned aircraft with crew; war or insurrection; Personal Injury/Advertising Injury Contractual.
