Ernesta Procope, NYC, Honored By The Support Network For Contributions To Insurance Industry And Community Leadership
New York, NY - Ernesta G. Procope, chairman of E.G. Bowman Company, a Manhattan insurance brokerage, received the Support Network's President's Award for her outstanding contributions to the insurance industry and for her community leadership.
The group is a New York-based charity dedicated to infant health and wellbeing and minority scholarship.She founded E.G. Bowman in 1953 as a storefront agency. The Wall Street-based firm today is the largest minority-owned and woman-owned insurance brokerage in the United States, according to the company.
The Support Network honored Procope at its 24th Annual New Year's Eve Gala at Gotham Hall. Proceeds from the yearly fundraiser support health initiatives for babies with low birth weight. Besides the Support Network, Procope has worked closely with many nonprofits, such as Girls Incorporated and Amistad Research Center. She has served on many corporate and nonprofit boards, including those of The Chubb Corporation, Avon Products, Columbia Gas System, New York Urban League, Cornell University, Adelphi University and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The Support Network Inc., a nonprofit fundraising organization, was founded in 1982 by a group of dedicated professional women to support the community's most valued treasures – its children. The organization's dedication, commitment and perseverance on behalf of both critically ill newborns and disadvantaged, gifted children has saved and enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of New York City's next generation.
