Dorn Opens Data Services Division
Dorn Technology Group, a risk management software developer and services provider, has established a new division to convert risk and claims data for Fortune 1000 clients who want to protect their data from Year 2000 compliance threats or migrate to client server-based systems. The division aims to convert more than 20 million claim records for more than 50 companies in the next 12 months, the company says.
Dorn forecasts that the demand for these services will accelerate as risk management professionals rush to comply with the new four-digit computer date standard and as they continue leveraging client server-based systems and the Internet to work more productively.
Dorn's primary business has traditionally been the development of risk management software applications, with training and data conversion services supporting its products. The company says the founding of this data services unit builds on the work it has already done in this area. It notes that since 1990, it has converted and mapped data from more than 120 data sources, using a library of more than 200 programs. In the past two years, the company says, it has also completed more than 100 data projects involving brokers, carriers and TPAs.
"Data conversions and data interfaces have always been a big part of our business due to the nature of claims processing and management," said Mark Dorn, president, Dorn Technology Group. "We've spent millions on data services resources. By expanding our resources in this area, we expect to be the top data services provider in the risk management industry."
