Delphi's Seybold Says It Will Offer SEMCI, Not DEMCI

N/AInformation Systems, Inc. has announced a wide-ranging agreement with APT (Alliance for Productive Technology) to offer APT's SEMCI Access Module, or SAM, for all Delphi products and legacy systems. The company currently features APT's Agency Module in its Insurnet systems, while availability for most other systems is planned by the end of the fourth quarter of 1998.

"We just felt the time was right to do it right, and that means delivering true SEMCI [Single Entry Multi Company Interface]," says Max Seybold, president and CEO of Rolling Meadows, IL-based Delphi. "We didn't want to be another company that claims to give you single-entry technology, but then that amounts to making one single entry over here, then repeating the same so-called 'single' entry over there, and so on. Our math tells us that's a double-entry proposition, at best, or DEMCI."

According to Seybold, the key to true SEMCI is integrating SAM with the agency management system for simpler, faster and more accurate data upload, especially <%=company%> forms using the industry standard format (AL3). Without this integration, a CSR would be called upon to enter the same information twice—once into the agency management system, and then again, separately, into the APT module.

"We applaud Delphi's commitment to the concept of true SEMCI," says Jim Cutro, president and chief executive of APT. "They really understand that a more streamlined workflow is the bottom line, and they're willing to do whatever it takes to get their customers from point A to point B, without any additional steps in between. That comes across loud and strong with Delphi, and it's reflected in this commitment."

Seybold emphasizes, "From our perspective, upload and download should all come in one load—a real single entry of data into a single agency management system. After that initial entry, nobody should have to give a second thought as to how the information gets to carriers.

That takes away from their proper focus on insurance. With our adoption of APT, Delphi will make sure the information gets to where it needs to go."
