Crawford to Handle Canadian Hepatitis Compensation Fund
Archie Meyers, Jr., chairman and CEO of Crawford & Company, recently announced that Crawford Expertises Canada was named by The Superior Court of Quebec, The Superior Court of Ontario, and The Supreme Court of British Columbia to administer the compensation fund for Canadians infected with the hepatitis C virus. (Canadian) compensation fund The fund is worth $1.2 billion (Canadian). Plaintiffs in this action were exposed to the virus through blood transfusion or use of blood products between January 1, 1986 and July 1, 1990.
Kerry Eaton, vice president of Crawford Expertises Canada, who will be overseeing the operations stated, "Our class action administrators are responsible for receiving, evaluating, and processing applications filed by claimants, as well as finalizing claims decisions and processing payments. Our number one priority is to serve the victims in an efficient, effective, and sensitive manner.''
Meyers added, "Our plan calls for claims forms to be quickly sent to previously registered victims. And, because we understand the hardships and frustrations the victims of this unfortunate tragedy have faced, we will make every effort to assist claimants in completing the forms to ensure their claims are processed promptly and accurately.''
