Crawford & Co. Acquires The Garden City Group

Crawford & Co. has completed its acquisition of The Garden City Group, Inc., which specializes in administering settlements in class action cases and other large-scale litigation. Crawford's intention to acquire the company was announced in October 1998.

The Garden City Group, Inc. has begun operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Crawford & Co. The purchase was made for an undisclosed amount of cash.

Archie L. Meyers, Jr., president of Crawford & Co., said, "We expect considerable synergies from this acquisition. The Garden City Group, Inc. is known for the quality of its service, professionalism of its staff and efficiency of its systems."

Michael Sherin, chairman of The Garden City Group, said, "Becoming part of Crawford & Co. will enable us to grow our business by leveraging our talents with Crawford's breadth of services and global reach." Sherin said strategic planning sessions for managing The Garden City Group, Inc. as a Crawford subsidiary are beginning this month.
