Commonwealth Risk Bolsters National Sales Staff
Philadelphia-based Commonwealth Risk, the marketing subsidiary of Mutual Risk Management, says it has made several promotions in its national sales force.
"We're strengthening our national sales force to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities for growth in our core business," said Richard Turner, president of Commonwealth Risk. "Our expanded sales team will provide important support as we expand our customer base and increase the business with our existing customers."
Promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president with responsibility for coordinating new business production, as well as program business account management:
Andrew Lewis, who is responsible for integrating written business and structuring new program business accounts. He joined the Commonwealth Risk affiliate Legion Insurance Company in 1989 as an underwriting manager, and later joined Commonwealth Risk where he assisted brokers and their clients with evaluating and structuring state-of-the-art alternative risk financing programs. Lewis earned a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.
Jerry Rivers, who is responsible for the development and administration of all new business accounts. An 11-year veteran of Commonwealth Risk, he has 15 years experience in commercial property and casualty insurance, specializing in producing, designing and servicing risk financing programs such as captives, self-insurance, rent-a-captive and large deductible/retention programs. Rivers earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton.
Promoted from vice president to senior vice president and responsible for leading sales production teams are:
C.A. "Tripp" Craig III, who has specialized in agency captive programs, co-heads a sales team with John Naughton. He was employed at Marsh and McLennan before joining Commonwealth Risk seven years ago. He earned a bachelor's degree from Widener University.
John Naughton, CPCU, who has managed several books of business with diverse specialty coverages, will co-head a team with C.A. Craig III. With Commonwealth Risk and Legion Insurance for eight years, he previously was an underwriter with CIGNA. A Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Naughton earned a bachelor's degree from West Chester University.
Doug Deitch, who has extensive experience in the acquisition and management of individual insureds. He has successfully structured programs for the manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, professional sports and financial services industries. Deitch joined Commonwealth Risk 10 years ago. He attended Lafayette College, Easton, PA.
Jeff Packard, who helped grow a single specialty account to one of the company's largest and longest running program business accounts, is a 10-year veteran of Commonwealth Risk. He currently co-heads a sales team. Before Commonwealth Risk, Packard worked in the sales and marketing department of Cigna's property and casualty division. Packard earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University.
Andrew Cavenaugh, who has expertise in association and affinity programs, and is responsible for securing the company's first personal lines book of business, heads a sales team on the West Coast. With Commonwealth Risk for six years, he previously worked as a commercial bank lender at M&T Bank. A resident of San Francisco, Calif., he earned a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.
Also promoted to senior vice president is Alan Pcsolyar, who will lead a new business management team that will work with the production teams to implement new and renewal program business. He has been with Commonwealth Risk for three years, before which he spent 14 years with a professional underwriting subsidiary of MRM. He earned an MBA from Temple University and a bachelor's degree from Penn State University.
Promoted to vice president were:
James Agnew, who has worked as a producer at Commonwealth Risk for five years. He was previously employed at the Philadelphia Insurance Company. He earned a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University.
Jason Sears, who has worked as a producer at Commonwealth Risk for eight years, developing an expertise in small business accounts. He earned a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.
Aleck Roberts, who managed accounts in Bermuda for six years before becoming a producer for Commonwealth Risk in 1994, works from the company's Irvine, Calif. office. He earned a master's degree from McGill University, a bachelor's degree from Concordia University, Montreal, and is a Canadian Chartered Accountant.
Eric Bossard, who served as an underwriter with Legion Insurance for 11 years, has recently joined the program business sales team at Commonwealth Risk. He earned a bachelor's degree from West Chester University.
Jay Peichel, who is a program business specialist and a six-year Commonwealth Risk veteran. He was previously employed at Reliance National Insurance Company. He earned a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College.
