Risk management clients can have real-time access to claims information through an Internet-based risk management information system recently implemented by RSKCo Cost Management, a CNA Risk Management business.

"Our Clearview Internet capability has improved the access and speed with which clients can obtain data for viewing and analysis," said Dave Keebler, senior vice president, RSKCo Information Services. "It also offers the option of on-line, real-time communication with an information services client service representative whenever the client requests it."

Keebler said the systems can sort, subtotal and work through claims files using a variety of custom parameters. Also, he said, users have the option of looking at one claim at a time, or in groups.

"Our nearly 600 Clearview users can now get real-time data, such as adjusters' notes and up-to-date payment information, through an easy-to-use Internet connection that speeds the process of gathering and analyzing the data needed to perform outcomes studies and reduce loss costs," said Robert Kulbick, chief executive officer, RSKCo.

Features of the Windows-based system include:

  • Real-time access to adjuster notes and payment information, including the options to look at data chronologically, by topic or by key words;
  • Ability for clients to run standard reports or design custom reporting functions to look at claims in a variety of ways, such as by the type of workers' compensation injury, the location of the injury or the litigation status of a claim. Keebler says, "A typical workers' compensation case contains an average of 50 or 60 separate pieces of data, so it's important to be able to set parameters to get exactly the information you need to assist you in improving outcomes;"
  • Weekly updates of information for analytical reporting;
  • Ongoing training and support, including the option of having an information services representative log on-line with clients to assist them in learning the system and in troubleshooting; and
  • Log-on to a secure, password- and firewall-protected Web site using a reliable network connection that increases the number of clients that can access the system simultaneously.

"We're sensitive to the time constraints of our clients," Kulbick said. "Risk managers need accurate data to perform quality outcomes analyses, but they don't have a lot of time to spare. We've combined a product that provides meaningful information with the speed and ease of doing business over the Internet," he said.
