CHICAGO, October, 2000—CNA Financial Corporation E&S-Programs, a business division of CNA, announces CNANetProtect, a product providing first and third party protection from e-commerce and Internet hazards faced by businesses on the net.

CNA E&S Programs is marketing this through a three way alliance with ICSA.net, a world leader in Internet security assurance, and Sherwood Insurance Services, one of the nation's leading insurance brokers. Through their alliance CNA E&S, Sherwood, and ICSA.net will promote not only CNANetProtectSM, but also the services of ICSA including TruSecure, a multi-disciplined ICSA.net service that ensures the security of Internet operations for all types of business enterprises.

The first-party protection offered by CNANetProtect includes business interruption coverage for network downtime and the expenses incurred to restore software and data due to a willful or malicious occurrence. The third-party protection includes liability coverage for denial of access, transmission of viruses, electronic publishing and electronic information damage, including loss of information belonging to others.

"Targeted customers for CNANetProtect include a broad range of existing brick and mortar sales, manufacturing, and services firms that are working to expand or improve their business through an Internet presence and need protection from the new hazards that the Internet presents," advises Paul Lundberg of CNA E&S.

Sherwood Insurance Services, one of the nation's foremost wholesale brokers, is CNA's program manager for CNANetProtect. Sherwood's e-Sher facility offers customized approaches to insure the exposures inherent in doing business electronically. Contact information is recorded below.

CNA, ICSA.net and Sherwood began development of their program offering 18 months ago. "We have spent the time and energy necessary to bring to market a product that responds to both the first and third-party exposures of insureds who use the Internet to transact business either on a business-to business or business-to-consumer basis," says William Casey, senior vice president, CNA E&S Programs.

"ICSA.net is providing state-of-the art tools and technical expertise to assist CNA in quantifying the initial risk posed by prospective insureds," adds Peter Tippett, ICSA.net's chief technology officer.
