CNA Commercial Insurance Announces New Upload Capabilities with Applied Systems Software

N/Amercial Insurance says it has developed an <%=company%> electronic upload to help its agencies that using Applied Systems software write, service and manage business better. Planned for pilot this year, the upload will allow agencies to send all commercial applications electronically to CNA with single-entry processing (SEMCI). This should eliminate rekeying errors and result in higher quality data, since information is entered directly by the agency. Additionally, the electronic application will be mapped automatically into the CNA policy system.

A joint effort with BWC Systems and Applied Systems, the new ACORD upload complements CNA's Applied-certified ACORD AL3 download from its small commercial Point of Sale System (POS) that was introduced in December 1997. Both electronic interfaces are compatible with Applied's popular program, The Agency Manager (TAM), Version 6.0 for download and 6.03 for upload.

The download provides agencies using POS and TAM more rapid access to the CNA Commercial Insurance set of small commercial products, including the Business Accounts Package Policy (BAPP); Contractors Account Package Policy (CAPP); Small Non-Fleet Auto Policy (SNAP) and Workers' Compensation. CNA Commercial Insurance's POS currently is distributed to 2,500 independent agents and is used by several large brokers and banks.

"Our new interoperability with Applied Systems will significantly trim turnaround time with many of our agency partners and, in turn, improve customer service," said Mike McGavick, president of CNA Commercial Insurance. Gary Dittman, CNA Commercial Insurance executive vice president and chief marketing officer noted, "The upload and download interfaces are a major step forward, providing SEMCI (Single Entry Multiple Company Interface) capability for our Applied agency partners."
