CIGNA Adds ARAMARK's Neubauer to Board
CIGNA Corp. announced Thursday that Joseph Neubauer has been elected to its board of directors. Neubauer, 56, is chairman and chief executive officer of ARAMARK, a leader in managed services.
``Joe Neubauer has demonstrated extraordinary vision and leadership during his 15 year tenure as CEO of ARAMARK,'' said CIGNA CEO Wilson H. Taylor. ``I expect that his broad experience in profitably growing a service company with international operations -- and, in particular, his keen focus on strengthening customer relationships -- will be of significant value to our company and our shareholders. We are honored to have him on our board.''
Neubauer joined ARAMARK (then ARA Services) in 1979, from PepsiCo Inc., as executive vice president of finance and development, chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors. In 1981, he was elected president and chief operating officer, and assumed the title of chief executive officer in 1983. Neubauer was elected chairman of the board of directors in 1984.
Neubauer is a member of the board of directors of Bell Atlantic Corp., Federated Department Stores Inc. and First Union Corp . He received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
