Medical Analyst detects billing and coding errors, enforces coding conventions, applies statutory rules and guidelines and provides benchmarks for usual and customary fees
Medical Analyst detects billing and coding errors, enforces coding conventions, applies statutory rules and guidelines and provides benchmarks for usual and customary fees, without ever challenging the efficacy of medical care and judgment. Medical Analyst can be successfully implemented and supported by non-medical claims personnel.

Medical Analyst is Mitchell's flagship product which has been used by auto insurance carriers, service providers, and TPA's for over 17 years to review first and third party, Med Pay, PIP, and No-Fault bills. Medical Analyst accurately applies billing rules, medical rules, and fees consistently across your organization. Medical Analyst's powerful capabilities include:

Defendable UCR Database-Mitchell licenses a national UCR fee database of prevailing charges that is specific to geographic areas referenced by zip codes. The database consists of more than 500 million patient encounter records that are updated regularly using pricing data from an 18-month "moving window" prior to the release date. Proprietary database scrubbing and mapping technology as well as the expertise of a staff of clinical professionals are incorporated into the database.

The database offers charge data arrayed in percentiles for approximately 96 percent of all current CPT codes in surgical, medicine, radiology and laboratory procedures and evaluation and management services. Reasonable and customary charges typically are reimbursed at the 80th to 90th percentile, but the customer can select any percentile down to the 70th.

Bundling/Unbundling-the software takes unbundled charges and combines them to reflect the appropriate fees. This ensures that a provider is not billing separately for services that should be considered a separate procedure.

Duplicate Billing Flags-the software detects when duplicate providers are entered into the system. It also flags when a provider charges for the same service within a certain duration.

Colossus Interface-When used together, Medical Analyst and Colossus, CSC's bodily injury evaluation software, saves users time because data from Medical Analyst can be automatically populated into Colossus. This saves the adjuster up to an hour for each Colossus evaluation.

Supportable Rules-the guidelines used by the software come directly from sources such as the American Medical Association, McGraw Hill, and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).

Decision Point is designed to support today's "virtual workplace." With our three-tier architecture, customers can access the product and their medical bill review data from any computer with an Internet browser. Insurance adjusters and/or auto medical bill review staff can now be located on- or off-site, depending on your operational requirements.

Decision Point can be accessed remotely via an Internet browser, allowing our customers maximum flexibility with regard to staffing. The browser-based configuration is flexible, can accommodate hundreds of users, and is scalable to accommodate thousands.
