Berger Builds Chubb Re Management Team

Chubb Re has named three new members of its senior management team to work with John R. Berger, Chubb Re's president and chief executive officer. Brian B. Hegarty is joining Chubb Re as managing director of non-traditional reinsurance, Wayne C. Paglieri is managing director and chief underwriting officer, and Thomas C. Wafer is managing director of international marketing and underwriting. All three join Chubb Re with broad experience in the reinsurance business.

Hegarty most recently has been a senior vice president of Transatlantic Re where he was responsible for non-traditional reinsurance as well as their Canadian business.

Paglieri comes to Chubb Re after 12 years with F&G Re, most recently as an executive vice president. He spent the past two years in London as a Lloyd's underwriter and managing director of Ashley Palmer Limited, a Lloyd's managing agency acquired by USF&G in 1996.

Wafer has been a managing director at Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance brokerage unit of J&H Marsh & McLennan Inc. Prior to the merger, he was responsible for the international operations of Johnson & Higgins' subsidiary, Wilcox Intermediaries, for 17 years.
