Baynard Named Bank Of America Insurance Service Exec

Bank of America today announced the appointment of Charles M. Baynard as head of the Insurance Services Group. Baynard, currently head of Texas consumer banking, succeeds Len Mariani who is leaving the company.

Connie Beck will succeed Baynard. She is currently president of the Fort Worth bank and manages Small Business & Professional & Executive Banking in Texas.

In his new position, Baynard will be responsible for the sales and service of all insurance products through the bank's Consumer & Commercial Banking Group. Based in Charlotte, he will report directly to James G. Jones, president of the bank's Direct Banking Group.

"Chuck is a veteran leader who has a broad background in the company," said Jones. "His experience will ensure that we are putting in place our best sales practices as we continue to meet more of our customers' needs through the insurance business."

Baynard began his banking career as a management trainee with the company in 1973 and served in a variety of positions in consumer banking and credit card operations. He has served as Texas Consumer Banking executive since 1995. A native of Tidewater, VA, Baynard earned his bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University and attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

As head of Texas consumer banking, Beck will be responsible for all consumer banking, small business and professional and executive banking in Texas, including nearly 400 banking centers. Based in Dallas, she will report to Tim Arnoult, president of the bank's Central Region.

Beck joined the company in 1975 as a credit analyst in Dallas. She served in a number of positions in corporate banking and, in 1997, was appointed president of the Fort Worth bank with management responsibilities for consumer banking. Last year, she was named head of Small Business and Professional & Executive Banking for Texas. A native Texan, she earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and her master's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University.
