Arthur J. Gallagher Promotes in UK, Northeast US

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. says that John D. Stancik has been appointed to the position of Brokerage Services' Northeast Regional Manager.

Stancik began his career at Gallagher in 1970 as a producer. He moved through the management ranks from unit manager to vice president, than area president for both the New York property/casualty sales office and the Chicago National Risk Management Services office. He has spent the last nine years as the chairman and chief executive officer of Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited, headquartered in London.

Stancik will be succeeded by Brian A. King, who will assume the role of managing director and chief executive officer of the U.K. operations. King most recently chief operating officer and a member of the Board of Directors in London.

He joined Gallagher in 1996 with the merger of Morgan, Read & Coleman Ltd., where he had served as the company's Managing Director for ten years prior to the merger. He joined Morgan, Read & Coleman Ltd. in 1984 and held various management positions within the firm during that time.

Michael J. Cloherty, chief executive officer of Gallagher's Brokerage Services Division, stated, ``Our United Kingdom operations have flourished under the leadership of these two individuals. It is the appropriate time for Stancik to return to the United States, and to continue building Gallagher's growing presence in the Northeast.

"Mr. King will continue with the challenge of expanding Gallagher's U.K. and European presence, as well as introducing Gallagher's products throughout the rest of the global insurance marketplace," he said.
