Applied Systems Inc., the leader in insurance automation solutions, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Data Transit International. As of October 2000, Applied Systems and Data Transit have established an agreement, whereby Data Transit will house Applied's Internet-based insurance agent/broker management system, TAMCentral, on a state-of-the-art data center. By outsourcing their application needs to a hosted environment, agents and brokers can rely on the same system functionality and feature-rich design experienced by over 9,000 Applied customers.

"Applied is focused on providing complete solutions, ensuring that agents and brokers have the tools they need to service their customers and grow their business," states James P. Kellner, CEO and Chairman of Applied Systems Inc. "An ASP environment is an ideal opportunity for the insurance industry to maximize their internal efficiencies and to focus on their core competencies. The ASP model lowers the total cost of ownership by removing extensive costs in establishing and maintaining IT infrastructures. Now, insurance professionals can extend their competitive reach in the insurance marketplace."

"Applied continues to have a strong market position in the insurance solutions provider arena. We are leveraging our position to bring insurance professionals an application hosting and management service that is emergent in a hyper competitive marketplace. As James P. Kellner asserts, "Our mission is to leverage the latest technologies to deliver efficiencies and reduce the cost of doing business to all of our partners in the Insurance Industry."

Applied Systems has entered a joint venture with Data Transit to deploy TAMCentral as a managed, hosted application to their customers. This innovative new platform provides access to Applied's flagship product, The Agency Manager, for agents and brokers via an Internet connection. The subscriber's data resides securely on an exceptionally protected, world-class data center powered by UUNet and managed by Data Transit. Such an arrangement features full system functionality, high bandwidth availability and response time, and four-tier security measures.

"We are excited to partner with Applied Systems because their customers are ideally suited to benefit from an ASP model. Agents and brokers will turn to TAMCentral because they want the best product available to help in managing their operations. Accessing this resource without needing to commit additional in-house resources to an internal IT infrastructure allows these businesses to fully realize the benefits of the product without creating the additional management burdens the product is designed to alleviate, " states Mark Conner, Vice President of the Application Delivery and Management Services division of Data Transit International.

Data Transit International's experience in designing and implementing server-based computing environments to deploy applications combined with the award-winning automation solutions of Applied Systems promises to take the insurance ASP model to a new standard of excellence. As part of this partnership, Data Transit will offer system upgrades, data security and backup, software updates and data redundancy through a superior Service Level Agreement.
